Great Peruvian Food. Family recipes prepared by a CIA trained chef. Service pleasant and knowledgeable. Try the lucuma ice cream.
I had a great meal here with excellent service. The octopus appetizer (which I had twice recently) was perfect and I had a crab cake that was excellent as well. My friend had a steak which was cooked perfectly. I'm glad this place redeemed itself because it went downhill a couple years ago.
Recently had sinner here w/ my very good Peruvian friend and our wives. Smallish BYO restaurant in downtown Montclair. Parking on weekends can be a challenge. While I'm far from a Peruvian "foodie" - everything we ordered was excellent and my friend who knows this type food - was very pleased w/ everything. Fish was prepared a # of diff ways and was very fresh. TIP: - they offer very few drink options! (If bringing alcohol for cocktails - bring your mixers as well)! Will very likely return!
Decor soothing and romantic. Excellent food and service. If you're looking for a nice place to relax, eat good and be treated right this is the place for you. I love coming to this restaurant and I will continue to be a loyal customer!
The lunch deal cannot be beaten in the area. Also, flavors are wonderfully developed and the menu is diverse.
Great food, great toom, great service. These folks know what they're doing.
outstanding wine and Peruvian food tasting and pairing
This was our first time here, we did not make reservations which was a mistake, but the food was worth the wait. I have been to many Peruvian restaurants and the food here did not disappoint. The Tiradito was delicious, the Seco Norteno was incredible and Chocolate mousse with Lucuma was the perfect way to end the meal. Our servers were so friendly and helpful along with the hostess who was very pleasant to deal with while we were waiting to be seated. If anyone decides to give this establishment a try please make reservations. All in all I will definitely come back here.
This was the first time we visited Costanera, and the first time visiting a Peruvian restaurant. I found it excellent, much like Spanish with a bit different flavor, and if wanted, a bit more spice. The steak was fabulous, as was the spicy potatoes and Chorizo. The shellfish tower was very fresh, and the various dips and sauces with it was terrific. Definitely a return destination
Great find on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, NJ. The ambiance is warm and casual and the waitstaff is extremely knowledable about Peruvian food and is always willing to assist you. For appetizers the cerviche is wonderful. Many different types of cerviche are available and they have the correct balance of flavors. The quinona-crusted fish fritters were so delectable that I want to order them every time that I visit Costanera! The lomo saltado entree was equally as tasty over crispy French fries. For dessert the tres leches cake was sweet and moist. Wonderful dining experience! We will be returning soon! Thanks, Costanera!
The best Peruvian restaurant I've been to!
Great service, excellent food, the place itself is a little small but you could bring your own wine
Excellent Peruvian food in a casual atmosphere
Had the table at the opens doors to the sidewalk. Weather was beautiful that added to the atmosphere. Wara was our waitress who was wonderful. Appetizers were to die for; you could make a meal just from them. Muscles, the burger, and the cod were all tables favorites for my party. However, the Cobb salad was not up to par with the rest of the menu. Overall, a lovely place to share a fantastic meal. 4.7/5
Great food and friendly attentive service.
This is a great experience if you like authentic food and are open for unusual tastes. We are fans of Peruvian food, and the restaurant did not disappoint. Good portions, full of flavors dishes, pretty extensive menu. Ceviche was perfect. The cod dish was mouth watering. I liked the exotic lucume ice-cream. My husband liked the beef heart appetizer so much that he ordered it again for dessert;) Can't wait to go there again!
10 STARS+++ The food was amazing. We had a great time. Thank You!
Loved the food here!! We got the Oysters, fried Yucca, and the Churrasco a lo Pobre. Its BYOB so we grabbed some wine and beer! I didnt know they took reservations so I was originally told that there was about an hour wait. We heard great reviews of the food so we decided to wait. They offered to open the wine for us and give us wine glasses so we could enjoy the wine while we waited. We ended up only waiting 20 mins to half hour which was great! They sat us and the service and food was great! Please do yourself a favor and check this place out!
I love this place, great food every time
This is a really great Peruvian restaurant on Bloomfield Ave in Montclair. For lunch or dinner, you can never go wrong with any of the steak dishes. All of the the seafood cooked or raw is exceptionally prepared. Our last visit had a large group and all dishes came out perfectly. The decor is nice and cozy with interested cross sections of wood all over the walls. Will definitely revisit.
