I thought the service was amazing, if you have Alfonso as a waiter then you'll enjoy your entire evening. The food was delicious and the presentation of the food was gorgeous. Each meal was enough to serve two people so my boyfriend and I only ordered Food enough for 1. The chicken soup I ordered was so big it was easily split in two bowls and my god was it good *drool*. We had also ordered an empanada and since we were eating soup, the 1 empanada split in half was enough for both of us. We then ordered the tallarin con bistek with pesto sauce and it was phenomenal. For desert I definitely recommend the Lucuma ice cream! It's like what you'd think a fall yankee candle would taste like, ugh it was amazing. And the Tres leches? So soft and juicy and beautifully presented with the whip cream on top and the caramel drizzled over. Like I said, if you have Alfonso as a waiter, all of your food will be beautifully presented, we could see him cleaning the plate after pouring the caramel on top, making sure everything looked perfect. The interior design of the restaurant is creative and warm, around 5pm they bring out the candles and we just felt so cozy while eating our desserts. IT IS A LITTLE PRICEY, our check came out to around $60 even though we only ordered food for 1 person BUT, the food and experience was so worth it. Definitely recommend and would definitely go again!
First experience trying Peruvian cuisine and I'm hooked! Very friendly, helpful staff, and a cozy atmosphere. The chicken with fresh cilantro and rice soup is a must try. The Peruvian burger is cooked to your liking and very flavorful. Try the yuca fries, tasty!
The food here is great. Come hungry, they serve large portions of heavy food. Staff are friendly. This place has a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Never disappoints. I've been coming here for the last 5 years or so and it's always on point. Traditional Peruvian fare with a twist, friendly staff and ownership. Try the tiradito ceviche!
Wow, after visiting Peru this summer I was craving Lomo Saltado and Causa and this local restaurant cooks these two dishes with excellence! It is a very busy dinner spot so reservations are highly recommended. The atmosphere is rustic, casual and cozy and the staff is very friendly. It is BYOB, however, if you bring your own Pisco they will mix a Pisco Sour for you for a small fee. That's service with a smile for a true Peruvian dinner experience! Highly recommended.
super delicious. Especially the quinoa fish fritters. and our serve Michael is 100/100 ! I'll definitely go back
Great authentic food beautifully presented.
We found Costanera accidentally one Friday night while in town for the ArtWalk.. they had a no-show for a reservation and were able to accommodate us. We were so impressed with the quality and uniqueness of all the dishes we tried. I think we went back at least weekly since then! The ceviche, cod fritters, steak, branding all were outstanding! Love the food and the people are great too!
I mean this place right here was just excellent. We came here on a Friday night with a table of 4 and no reservation and were fit in 20 minutes later. Talk about lucky! The food was delicious we ordered the octopus salad as an appetizer (fits 2 people) and it was fantastic! Very tasty and well prepared. I believe it was a special for the day though. I ordered the chicken and my girlfriend got the short rib special entree. Both were excellent and absolutely delicious. I ordered my entree with the plantain maduro and it was very well prepared as well. Trust me if you have the opportunity order the short rib!!! You will not regret. Another plus is this spot is BYOB whoop whoop! So definitely come here and make a reservation!
First time visitors and pleasantly surprised. Great staff and food was excellent. Would defenitlty return.
Great food, but can be a little pricey. Service was great.
Peruvian...Amazing...100% enjoyable. Went here for a team lunch and really not knowing anything about Peruvian cuisine, I was a bit uneasy with what I might experience. The place is clean. The service was top notch (really impressive) and the food left an indelible impression that will require additional visits. I was delighted with the starters. The ceviche was amazing the grilled octopus was incredible and the blackened branzino (special) made me giddy with enjoyment. Had a vegan in the group and where there were not a ton of options...he was very happy with his meal. I am looking forward to another visit.
OMG. The tostones (plantanos) are savory and delicious. Even though fried, tasted delicate. If you want sweet plantains, order "Maduros". A dish of beans was incredible. Any chef who can make beans like that is a virtuoso! They have open doors to the street when weather permits which is great.
We came on a Sunday night. We ordered an octopus salad special that was really tasty, the textures were varied and the flavor was on point. Then we had the Anticuchos, marinated grilled beef heart on skewers, and it was delicious and juicy. It came with some choclo which is a large Peruvian corn. We had Chicha Morada to drink which is a Peruvian purple corn beverage and it was delicious. They do not have a liquor license, but you can bring your own wine from the store that is two doors down from them. The ambience is lively and casual. The server was nice and answered questions that we had about the food. For our entrée we had the Parihuela which is a seafood stew, and it was really good, I highly recommend it if you like fresh seafood. It had an orange colored broth which contained squid, some delicious crab, shrimp, mussels, and a unique type of red pepper in the broth. We also had a side of Tacu Tacu, fried rice with beans and onions which was also tasty. For dessert we had some Lucuma ice cream which is a fruit found in Peru. I will definitely be returning to eat here again, and I highly recommend this place.
Great Peruvian Food. Family recipes prepared by a CIA trained chef. Service pleasant and knowledgeable. Try the lucuma ice cream.
I had a great meal here with excellent service. The octopus appetizer (which I had twice recently) was perfect and I had a crab cake that was excellent as well. My friend had a steak which was cooked perfectly. I'm glad this place redeemed itself because it went downhill a couple years ago.
Recently had sinner here w/ my very good Peruvian friend and our wives. Smallish BYO restaurant in downtown Montclair. Parking on weekends can be a challenge. While I'm far from a Peruvian "foodie" - everything we ordered was excellent and my friend who knows this type food - was very pleased w/ everything. Fish was prepared a # of diff ways and was very fresh. TIP: - they offer very few drink options! (If bringing alcohol for cocktails - bring your mixers as well)! Will very likely return!
Decor soothing and romantic. Excellent food and service. If you're looking for a nice place to relax, eat good and be treated right this is the place for you. I love coming to this restaurant and I will continue to be a loyal customer!
