There were two locations for this restaurant. The old location was near the main train station on Alameda Street. There is valet parking and limited street parking. The restaurant offers daily lunch and dinner specials. There is a full bar and lounge area. There are several banquet rooms. The main dining room is divided into sections. There is a separate wine list. The menu has light snacks to full dining. The service is very good and the dishes were very tasty.
Food & service are top notch here! Scheduled a nice business lunch here and everyone who were first timers vowed to return. Always high on my list of places to recommend.
We had our wedding and reception last night in Taix's largest room, and it was amazing. Jill and Lance were just so nice and patient in helping us set up, and Martin was a wonderful bartender. The gentlemen who served us throughout the night (who's names I sadly forget, sorry!) were also exceptional. We couldn't be happier with our experience, and are just so thrilled that everyone had such a great time and ate such amazing food. Thank you so much, Taix, for making our special night truly special. :)
translated, this meal is delicious.... I was happy to learn that Taix was featuring bouillabaisse as their special that day. Visiting Taix is like taking a trip backwards in time. Driving into their lot, you are warmly greeted by a valet. Entering the restaurant, you walk down a dimly lit hallway. To your right is the bar and straight ahead is the maitre d' station. Inside the dining room are large comfy booths and frosted glass for privacy. On Bastille Day, the male employees wore red felt berets. My server, however, was female and she wore a ribbon with the French national colors around her neck. The Tour de France was taking place in France and Taix featured specials each race day. Even the highlighted wines were from areas near each stop on the tour. When you sit down in one of their plush booths, you receive fresh sourdough bread and crudité. I ordered Claudia’s beet salad from the Dine LA menu and the special that day, bouillabaisse. The beet salad was nicely plated. I like that the ingredients were chilled, the butter lettuce was crisp, the oranges were juicy, and the garlic vinaigrette complemented the beet salad. The bouillabaisse contained monkfish, scallops, mussels, shrimp and steamed fingerling potatoes which were poached in a delicious lobster broth with saffron. I paired the meal with a full bodied red wine from the Cotes de Thongue region. This is in the French Occitane province adjacent to the Mediterranean. For dessert, I had a peach tart a la mode and a Coffee Français. The crust was flakey and the peach wasn’t too sweet. The caramel sauce made this dessert exceptional.
Attended a retirement party here and was very pleased with the service, food, and tasty wine. The New York steak was perfect. Will definitely return with my family.
Excellent service and meals. A must to anyone looking for fine dining.
Nick the server is great
Definitely not fast food, took over 1.5 hours to have lunch on a Sunday around 2:30. Once they open your wine bottle, it is self serve. All that said. Everything we are was exceptional.
Jaix is kind of an old school restaurant founded in the1920's with elaborate guilded ceilings and mirrors and an attentive staff of well trained servers. The Moules Maison (mussels) were in such a flavorful broth that we had the waiter bring us extra bread to soak up all the deliciousness. They also have a soup of the day and the split pea soup was the lightest and most flavorful we've ever had. From start to finish we had a memorable meal, which to me is the sign of a great restaurant.
Have been here for dinner twice-have had the portobello risotto and the penne. Both were generous portions and delicious-you can have soup and salad with these items but I opted out of that. The service is top notch. Atmosphere is very relax. highly reccomend
I miss you TAIX, I think I'll just you next week.
Dresden feel but a bit pricey. Fun place.
Great food and service!
Great vibe, dark lounge, live music. Need to get back. Nicoise salad was fresh and generous, smart portions. Martinis didn't disappoint either.
Excellent food. Quiet atmosphere so you can talk during your meal without shouting. Superior wait staff. Love the split pea soup along with the skirt steak and fries entree. I never seem to have enough room for dessert! It's probably delicious too. A classic eatery.
The first time I went to Taix's was more than 30 years ago so it was like stepping back a lifetime. The food is still as excellent and is reasonably priced staff gives excellent service it's really a classic Los Angeles restaurant
I have been going here for 40 years. Excellent French family style food. Always consistent, hot and delicious. Their roast chicken and vinaigrette salad is to die for. Prices are very reasonable as the family owns the building.
