Delicious Italian panini and pasta. Quality of pasta was very good. Unassuming exterior but interior was very Tuscan and nice. Great spot in Hell's Kitchen area.
The food here is very good even if you are just doing takeout. I stayed in the area for about a week and think I ate here three times. I highly recommend.
Best lunch in the neighborhood and maybe the best caponata I've had in NY!
Brilliant food, very cheap and friendly waiters - located in the best city in the world!!
The place to be. Delicious and authentic! Not to mention, wonderful staff. Always smiles. .
This is actually one of the best Italian sandwich joints I've eaten at. They are a small, family-style joint with fresh, quality ingredients and it feels like a classic Italian deli. The food was fresh to order and you can tell it's made with love. I stayed at a B&B near here and I am glad I found this place. Will definitely come back on my next trip through NYC.
Buenos sándwiches, gente agradable. Es un lugar pequeño, de paso... pero buen lugar para un stop and go y seguir paseando.
Absolutely delicious!!!!! Don't pass this place up! I can't wait to come back!
This was a very surprise find. Our first night in NYC, I asked "siri" for restaurants near our hotel, the Wyndham, and this one popped up. It was a short walk, and my friends and I are so glad we found this place! I had the best Lasagna I have ever had!!! Very small inside, but do not let this fool you! Food is out of this world! Go!!!
Excellent food, very reasonably priced, stuffed silly...
A dream experience for me. Everything a good restaurant should be is in the quality of the food. Simple cooking, quality ingredients, well made. The hungry crew, we had jus walked up a hunger on the high line, arrived looking to be satisfied PRONTO. the staff were ready to help and the only thing holding up the ordering process was my indecision. the menu range is quite large and everything sounded delicious. Once ordered the food arrived quite quickly and the promise of the menu was delivered and then some. it was delicious. Our hunger was soon satisfied. We could easily have walked past the plain exterior, as another reviewer has said, it does resemble a deli. We crossed paths with a lady as she was leaving, she was raving about the food, a fantastic stroke of luck.
If you are going to take in a matinee show in NYC, be sure to plan an 11:30 Lunch at this amazing sandwich shop. Yes they serve other classic Italian Pasta and Salads ....but we have never been willing to give up our chance at their sandwich board to try any of those items. These sandwiches are as good any thing in Philadelphia's little Italy. If you get there much after 11:30 a.m. the place could be sick busy and there are literally only 18-20 seats. But things move very quickly if you can actually choose a sandwich from the phenomenal list of classic Italian creations. They are all made on possibly the best Ciabatta or Italian rolls I have ever tasted, and their fig spread or Balsamic Glaze (all home made along with their mozzarella and everything else they use) is to die for. The service is friendly and fast when it is just full....but it can back up when people are waiting outside or there is a hard day of take out orders. My wife and I travel for food.....and we always compare to those great little sandwich shops in every euro city you ever go through except that these guys are better. If you are in a hurry....well you may not have time to read the sandwich board to make a choice but if you need quick help, trust me when I tell you that selection # 17 or #20 will guarantee a perfect sandwich. You'll need strong teeth because their Ciabatta is real! Chewy, flavorful and 2" of filling between the top and bottom of the roll! Don't miss this place!
Very tasty Italian paninis... Fast service and nice seating area! Great for a quick lunch break!
The salami, mozzarella and artichoke sandwich was amazing! It was such a good lunch that I took the family back for dinner. The Baked Ziti is huge! The staff is very friendly. Great place for a snack or a meal!
After many years of consistent incredible meals at this classic Italian deli, I simply had to post a long overdue review. I get to travel to NYC only once or twice a year on business, and this tiny, quaint little authentic deli has simply become an absolute must-go-to place on my list. From the outside, it looks about the same as every other small eatery in town...typical canopy, narrow width, big door, no outside seating. But when you walk in, there is the unmistakable realization that you've found something special. Maybe it's the cured meats and cheese hanging above the deli case, or maybe it's the smell of delicious food, or maybe the cold cases full of assorted San Pellegrino waters, including my favorite Limonata and Aranciata. Whatever it is, it hits me in the chest and I find myself euphoric...yes, it's as corny as it sounds, sorry...LOL! After the initial thrill has passed, I move onto the dreaded task of making a decision on what to order. The offerings run the gamut...salads, pasta, antipasto, Panini down to desserts and coffee...all of the classic Italian goodies you'd expect; Cannoli, Tiramisu, Espresso, Cappucino, etc. So many choices, so little time. For me, although I've had many things on the menu, one stands above all others, #1. II VIP - Prosciutto di Parma, house made fresh mozzarella, arugula with EVOO and a delicious fig spread...yes, fig spread. For starters, if you are an Italian deli snob like me, you know the bread is the most important feature of the sandwich, like dough is to pizza. Without the perfect vessel for which to place your above standard ingredients, the sandwich would fail. Well, not here. The rolls are crisp, bordering on tough, and the crunch when you bit an crumble when you tear off a piece...absolutely perfect! I crave #1, dream about it before I get to NYC and always take one with me when I go...crazy but true. Outside of my #1, there are literally 25 other sandwiches to choose from, so most definitely something for everyone in every combination imaginable, so you too might have a hard time choosing, or like me, simply have to go back again and again to try them all. There are plenty of side salads, olives and such to choose from as add-ons, so if you like, you can create quite a substantial meal on your trip. All orders are placed and paid for at the counter, and they'll call you when it's ready. You'll either receive it on a tray if your eating in, or in a bag for carry-out. The only drawback to this little gem is the seating...it's super limited. So if you come during peak times, you'll likely have difficulty eating in. Any other time during the day you'll be good to go. And as a sandwich shop, people generally eat and run and don't linger. For me, the anxiety I feel, not knowing if a table will be available is part of the excitement of it all, so no big deal. As long as I end up with #1 in my hot little hands, I'm in heaven...ahhh!! Mangia...enjoy!!
Be here. Small but beautifully formed. Great food, lovely staff.
