Yummy food, lovely staff, delicious margaritas (not too sweet!). Check out groupon for good deals.
It has been a little bit since we were here, but... Finally! Someplace that serves AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine in a colorful, vibrant & fun atmosphere!! The food is delicious, the margaritas are awesome and the service is great! My husband and I were totally impressed! We both had the No Way Jose's Margaritas and they tasted fantastic! The chips and salsa was spot on too!! For dinner, I had the Pollo a la Diabla Special... SOO delicious and full of flavor... My husband had the Puerco Mole Pistacho and he loved every bite of his too!!! Can't wait to get back to Jose's!!!
First time we went there my wife was pregnant . Today our son is 5 and we took him with us of course. Glad to see that what we remember most (friendly, prompt service, nice decor, and good food) have not changed. Fresh chips and salsa to start (free), added some guacamole and made it perfect . The fish dish my wife picked was great (pescado empapelado). Yes, the lower section is dark (it's the cantina section after all) but you can choose upper or outside (unless it's full, of course). Only concern I had today was that the meat on the chicken taco my son asked for felt a bit tough, as if it had been seating for a while, buy maybe it was in part due to his taking long to eat, so the food cooled off and the cheese hardened. The margarita was tasty, but it could use a stronger kick, that's another point that I'd make a point of checking next time, as I can't stand it when places sell you short on the quality or quantity of the liquor. Overall still strong recommend, and will go again. The fact that they've been there for so many years is a testament to how good the place is, here's to hoping they don't slack.
As this was a return visit we tried a few new dishes to us. The drinks are amazing, the new discovery was that the fish dishes (whilst good) are not as exceptional as the meat dishes. So I learnt to order meat at Jose's
Authentic tamales and great margaritas. Salsa and guac are both yummy. Fun atmosphere, excellent parking. Small portions, so order wisely.
It was a short walk from where we were staying for the night. We were seated right away with chips and salsa. It felt a little cramped but not that bad. Cozy might be a better way to describe. The food was tasty and the portions were just right. Not sure if they take reservations but it did fill up after we arrived which was before 7pm in the evening.
Delicious, fresh, standard fare in a fun, funky joint. Good drinks. Excellent, friendly service. Lunch is a bargain.
This was the best Mexican food I've had in years. The guacamole is to die for and the Tortilla chips were freshly fried. Highly recommend!
I travel for work and this is one of the few places I make sure to stop at every time I'm in the area. My last visit (last week) was no exception. I was there with a large party and we were seated upstairs. It was cozy, and made me feel like I was in a friends dining room. I stole a chicken Banderilla from my son's plate which he ordered for his appetizer. It was SO good and the layered dip that came with it was yummy enough to eat with a spoon when the banderillas were gone. We used the tortilla chips though. I had shrimp tacos which were very nicely cooked and tasted fresh. There were a variety of deserts brought to the table and the Churros, flan and tres leches were all a big hit with the group. I had asked for a tequila recommendation, which came from Carlos (the owner) and he suggested an anejo that I very much enjoyed. Then he came to the table with a flight of tequila for us to taste. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and was always easy to find if we needed something. This will stay on my list of regular places to come when I'm in the area.
Great funky decor, cozy seating, great Margaritas and full bar. Big menu selection and very affordable price point. Parking in the lot next door. Will go back again.
Great atmosphere, cozy booth, great Margaretas. Service was competent and food was above average. Would go back again.
Great time, Great place, Great food! A great way to break up the work week.
Very good food we went and used a groupon that we received for Christmas. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was excellent.
My husband and I had a wonderful time. The food was awesome. The service was incredible. The staff was great and waitress very friendly and informative about the food selections. I would recommend highly. Jose's is a quaint little restraunt. Nothing fancy, but the atmosphere is little part of Old Mexico!
Absolutely love this place. Great menu. Very casual. Great service.
Great drinks and food . So good ,free parking and pure yum. Steak enchiladas are outrageous. Free chips and salsa great home feel to the place . Great for a date night with the wife .
Tucked away in a Cambridge neighborhood off of Mass Ave, a trip to Jose's is worth the drive for a charming and cozy restaurant feel with traditional Mexican dishes. While they do serve the staples found in other Mexican establishments, they also serve Yucatecan inspired tastes that are hard to find anywhere else. On this evening I tried the Chiles en Nogada, a sweeter dish due to the cream and walnut-base with lots of cheese. Camarones a la Diabla, Pollito Pibil, and Tamalaes de mi Tierra are all interesting selections that are worth indulging on future visits.
Never disappoints. The guacamole is sinful and the margaritas are huge.
Used to go here 20 years ago , not much different cept the menus grown an the food is even better !
I love their food. Used to live close, moved away but every time I'm back in Cambridge, always go there .
