This is the best New Mexican Restaurant in Espanola. There is one other that is equal in every way but atmosphere. This is where I take visitors who are here for only one day. Everything on the menu is top notch. Great enchiladas, super chile relleños. I love their Frito pie. They also have specialty coffee and great looking desserts. (I'm always too full for dessert. This place is equal to the best of Santa Fe, and it's not full of tourists. (I'm sure there are some who find it by reading on line reviews.) This is authentic Northern New Mexico cuisine. Funny story: I once hired a local young man as a day laborer to help rearrange out warehouse. After a hard day's work I took everyone here for dinner. Everyone else ordered New Mexican specialties, except the young man. He ordered chicken fried steak. I teased him, "Why did you order chicken fried steak when I'm taking you to the best New Mexican Restaurant in town?" He said, "I get this other stuff at home every day."
If I lived in the area I would eat here everyday! This place was a great find on our vacation journey. The parking lot was full which tells me that the food is good. I was sooo happy! Great friendly staff!
Great food! Good service
The Menudo was great. It was made with their red sauce and Black lighting coffee was on point. Service was perfect.
The food has been good and the Relleno Burger was awesome with the onions and chile cooked right in the patty. Comfortable atmosphere!
My favorite place.
Delicious food, good prices, very courteous people.
The choices on the menuare great, loved the food & the staff was great. I will be going back very soon, cant wait!!!
An outstanding restaurant for anyone in search of delicious, authentic, New Mexican cuisine. Be careful of the spicy, though; some of the food here is very hot! I recommend the blue-corn, piñon pancakes. ¡Muy delicioso!
One of my favorite places!! To many favorites to list.
Incredible New Mexican food with a very nice atmosphere. Also a full bar with is off the dining area. The red chili is to die for!!
We were starving after our tour in Abiquiu. There were still several cars in the parking lot at 4pm so we went in. Absolutely glad we did. The food and service was outstanding. My carne avodova burrito was fantastic. My wife had the green chili cheeseburger - it was huge and very tasty. My daughter had a combo with an enchilada and a tamale - she said it was one of the best tamales she has had in awhile. Service was prompt and attentive. I will definitely come back when in the area.
Traditional Nee Mexican Cuisine and Tuesday best green Chile dishes
Looking for a restaurant everyone would agree on. La Cocina, was it. The salsa was tomatoye with little bite or flavor, but it was an okay appetizer, my standard is Pace. However, the main course was well presented and hit the spot. The service was ok, but nothing to write home about, there are a couple of waitresses who l try to avoid, but the balance do an ok job.
When the parking lot is packed...that's always a good sign! When the locals all eat there...that's another good sign. La Cocina had a good variety of Mexican favorites as well as burgers and fish. BLTs are good as well as a good old grilled cheese sandwich and fresh hot French frys.
Great New Mexican food
It was a busy Sunday morning so the service was a bit slow. The server kept the coffee coming as we waited for our meals. Every thing is good there. The green chile is hotter than the red. Tortillas are made in house and delivered to your table hot. The coffee is very good. Honey on the table for those fresh sopapillas. Breakfast is served all day long! This is one of my favorite places in Espanola!
Always great comfort food in a friendly environment.
Had great service Esmeralda is fast and very tentative to her customers. My meal was 3 stars but it still is a good place to eat
