This place is MUST if you visit the Bay Area. Excellent view from Tiburon to the Bay Area. Much more better than Sausalito!
After a lovely outing on Angel Island we returned and enjoyed indoor (they have outdoor) dining right on the bay. My hubby enjoyed a fresh crab Louie, he loved it. I enjoyed some of the best clam chowder ever, sour dough bread, and a small lovely mixed green salad. The server was friendly, accommodating and kept our beverages refilled. The view was of the bay. We will return!
Sam's has been around for many decades, it's a local icon. The original "Sam" is reputed to have smuggled in liquor during prohibition. My first ever visit was by sailboat with friends many years ago (there's a dock for visitors). It's great to eat out on the deck above the water, on a warm day. There is also some water/city-skyline view from the inside. (The bar, in contrast, has no windows, but it's popular with locals as well). The owner (co-owner?) Brian is great, as others have noted. I love the Crab Louie. The Chef's Chop is good too, and the fish is always good. Even the hamburgers are good. The prices aren't cheap, but they aren't really expensive. Keep in mind you're paying for the view and atmosphere, which is outstanding. Take a walk around the town before or after dinner, it's got some real character (like Sam's).
Great for a weekend Bloody Mary.
El lugar tiene muy buena comida, aunque el servicio es un poco lento. Ofrece una terraza muy agradable junto al club de yates.
It was a nice sunny day, so my girlfriend and I headed to Sam's Anchor Cafe in Tiburon. We opted to eat inside, as it was a tad breezy on the deck. They do have a wonderful deck with some nice views. Our waiter Carlos, was attentive and professional. I had the Tomato Soup and Fish and Chips. My girlfriend had Clam Chowder and a Crab Sandwich. The Crab Sandwich is not on the menu anymore. My girlfriend asked if they still made it, as she ordered it whenever she was there, and was told it would be up to the Chef. Well, it was her lucky day, as the Chef did make it for her. She was a very happy customer! Sam's has a nice indoor bar, and I believe they have one outside. Either sitting indoor, or outdoors, check out Sam's and I hope you enjoy it.
A relaxed atmosphere, imaginative entrees (I had Dungeness crab cioppino) good sandwiches and appetizers. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, from the hostess to the waitstaff to the chef who greeted us as we were leaving. There is something to be said for a place that has help-yourself sunscreen dispensers beside gourmet ketchup vats. The deck is part of the charm, although the same good food is probably served inside.
this is an old original restaurant serving great seafood on a large patio with a great view It is a favorite with locals and tourists The food is fresh and everything is a good choice it is a little pricey
A pleasant casual place on the water. The fried shrimp and oyster po’ boy was delicious and came with a hearty sprinkling of fresh home made potato crisps. It seemed a tad overpriced at $18. Our server was friendly and helpful.
We stopped at Sam's at the end of a bike the bridge ride from San Fran. Great place on a sunny day as we had. Good food not badly priced with good genuine service. Nice mix of locals and tourists.
A unique getaway from San Francisco and Marin County. After going through a rather dark bar, one is treated to a great deck with one oh the best views of the city. We used to eat there 45 years ago when they had terrific hamburgers. Happily they still do although the sour dough buns are gone. Access by car or ferry. Highly recommended.
Nice service, fabulous views - get off the ferry and enjoy a lite bite or cocktail while enjoying views of the bay and the city of SF
Good food, nice views.
Lots of menu items and all kinds of drinks. We enjoy brunch at a good table on a great weather day. Lots of timing and luck required. Pick your favorite and accompany with a glass of bubbly. Service is prompt and professional.
Pick a nice day, sit out on the big deck and soak up the sun and views of the Bay. Not many good restaurants in Tiburon but this is one. Nice lunch spot with good burgers, sandwiches, salads. Don't go to sit inside. It's darker and just not that inviting.
Dark chocolate and Filbert nut bread pudding is worth saving room for dessert. I had the cioppino with Dungeness crab. A hint of fennel in the soup gave it a hearty and interesting flavor. Nice menu will come back.
Patio, sunshine, burgers, lobster rolls, and cheese plate. Even enjoyed a virgin mojito :) Nice and chill town. Much fewer tourists than Sausalito.
Sam's Anchor Cafe on Main Street in Tiburon has a lengthy history (including Prohibition days) which only adds to its charm. The extensive menu has something for everyone....fresh crab dishes (when in season), salads, fish and chips, steak, etc. Whether one eats inside or on the deck, service is good and the views of the Bay and San Francisco are great. If the visit is for Brunch, try their Ramos Fizz. Families and groups are welcomed and a visit to Tiburon isn't complete with a stop at Sam's.
I visited this place. After attending a birthday party for one year old. It was great sandwich us know. The service was excellent. The location was great but was was raining off on so I had my sandwich inside. If it is pretty I would have eaten outside. I recommend this place f Or lunch. Most people had beer or wine but I had a long drive.
Sam's is always packed on a sunny day. We've gone there many times with friends and our kids. Fun back deck on the water.....bring sun screen!
