Puts the greasy in greasy spoon, but very tasty. More reasonably priced than most other places we’ve been to or seen. Most likely will be a repeat for us. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits.
What a little hidden gem! Awesome prices. Excellent food. Huge portions. Super friendly staff. Glad we found this place.
Best breakfast in NOLA.
I can’t believe I didn’t find this place sooner. Our Uber driver recommended this place and I am so glad he did!!! Awesome service & a nice laid back environment. Food is obviously insanely delicious, come hungry! Huge portions!
Great food, try the shrimp and cheese grit with eggs and biscuit 🦐👍😊
Amazing food and good people
Food and service was excellent
I have to visit them every time I come to NOLA... The best little hidden secret.. great food... Fast service and friendly staff. A must try... The catfish and PoBoys are awesome.
Recommended by Rooster the local produce man. I’m currently still working on my food, all I can say about it is that I am speechless. 😍 I’ve never seen my family be so quiet.
OMG The best catfish, grits and eggs, after breakfast I needed a nap so so good and delicious.. The staff also excellent and full of life and excitement yummo😋
Corn, crab and crawfish bisque with any poboy for$12. Hot and good.
Let me first say, this isn't a fancy place. It is hometown. It is soul food. It is delicious. And, it is worth the visit. I am from Oklahoma and we serve catfish there. I don't eat it. I don't order it. Before today, I would have told you that I hate catfish. So, why the heck did I order the jambalaya with catfish filets? Possibly because I thought I'd give it another go. The jambalaya was amazing, very flavorful with sausage and a nice spicy flavor. Here it goes....I loved their catfish. It was fried to perfection, it wasn't fishy tasting, it was light and flaky and the batter was terrific. There. I said it. I hate catfish, EXCEPT, the catfish from Hobnobber's. You may not be impressed with the ambience, but, that's not why you're there, right? You're there for great food, great service and a reasonable price. And you will get just that. You won't be disappointed and you won't leave hungry.
Read reviews on tripadvisor so had to check it out on my last afternoon in New Orleans. It took me a while to find the entrance to the restaurant but a local standing outside correctly assumed I was looking for it and pointed me in the right direction. The restaurant is extremely unassuming, homely and not very big but I was immediately greeted at the door by a friendly member of staff. The food was delicious and the shrimp po'boy was way bigger than expected. The crab and corn bisque was absolutely delicious.
My family and I was recommended to come to this place by a local who over heard us talking about getting some food. Now if you are walking to fast you might pass this hidden gem but when I say the food is delicious and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I’ll definitely be making a stop here every time I visit New Orleans.
Hobnobber's Restaurant was great, my friends and myself really enjoyed the restaurant. The food was great, so good.. We will return whenever we go back to New Orleans.. The staff was great and friendly, made us feel at home.. Great price for the food..
Best Shrimp and Grits I’ve ever experienced. And made by someone’s grandma. It’s epic!
I want to take these cooks home and ask them to be my grandma. I don't even mind I can't understand their accent. Pile up the breakfast like a beast.
Good breakfast prices very reasonable
The most friendly staff I've ever met. It was a little quiet at 1 am on a Thursday, but it was the perfect environment to meet great people and gave a good night
I don't think you can find food like this anymore. Wow. This is soul food that speaks to your soul. It is not easy to find, and it is not pretty, but if you are a TRUE foodie, you will do it anyway. This is a gem of a place that reminds me why I would be Super Fat if I lived in New Orleans. When I was 15, I came to New Orleans for the first time and literally could not stop eating. I mean even the fast food tastes better here! So this place is a gluttonous paradise. Combinations of soul food exist here that No One has, I mean No One. Eat Here. It is too much food, too little cost, get it anyway. And there are plenty of people outside that will be happy to take your leftovers.
