Very clean with large rooms. Front desk staff were nice but not openly helpful. Doorman. Only negative is outrageous parking fees.
For the price, location, comfort, and friendly staff, you can't beat the Orchard Garden Hotel. The location is in a safe and central location -- we walked to Union Square, SFMOMA, Chinatown, and the wharf. The room was a little small, but quiet and had everything we needed. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Would recommend and stay again!
We stayed here for four nights on our first visit to the city. The hotel is a small 10 storey hotel and we enjoyed the quietness of the place. We were on the 9th floor in a queen room and this was a good size with a good sized bathroom and shower over bath. The room had a large screen TV and in room safe. The location was nice and quiet and a 5-10 minute walk to Union Square. We walked back from Fisherman's Wharf and was about a 30 minute walk. Overall good value for money and friendly staff.
Excellent location. Walking distance Embarcadero, Union square, trollies. Beside entrance to China town. Quaint rooftop patio. Check in and check out went smooth. Parking expensive, $ 55, but norm for central San Francisco. Smart TV's, can log in for Netflix etc.
I stayed two nights at the OGH and what a fantastic experience! Upon arriving, I was greeted by the friendly doorman and front desk staff. They offer a hot towel when you check in to refresh your hands and face. What a nice touch! The room was clean and comfortable. Since it’s a newer building, the guest rooms are larger and more spacious than the historic hotels. I didn’t think that would be a big deal but after a recent travel through Europe and a long haul flight, I couldn’t believe how much a difference it made to be able to stretch out and relax without knocking a knee or elbow into a wall. All the appliances and fixtures worked well. Nothing broken or overused, like in some hotels. Living in California, conservation is important to me and I absolutely applaud OGH’s strides in being a green hotel. The hotel location is perfect: Easy access to dining, shopping, transit, bars, and landmarks. It’s not crowded with oafy tourists or divas hosting bachelorette parties. I didn’t see any panhandlers on this block like you do near the Union Square hotels. Everyone who works here smiles and seems genuinely happy to be there. From the housekeeping to the breakfast servers to the front desk, the staff wants to make sure you are having a great stay. Mark M., Susanna, Carrie, Max, Philip, and Lisa are some of the many that really worked hard to accommodate me and my team during my stay. Thank you guys!
Check in at this beautiful hotel was effortless, professional and helpful. I asked for two restaurant recommendations and both were winners! We stayed four nights in room 804 which at first glance appeared smaller than expected, but, as it turned out, was just the right size for our two overhead sized suitcases to place on the luggage racks. The room includes a desk with chair, a refrigerator, a small three drawer chest, two night tables, a nice sized closet with lots of hangers, room safe, and a most comfortable bed. Water pressure in the shower was not so good. Wake-up call service did not happen on one of the two mornings that we had requested. Our room was immaculate, linens were great, lighting, both natural and artificial was really good and the location was absolutely perfect!! Within walking distance to many attractions and less than a two minute walk to China Town! Breakfast was included with our room. The restaurant is beautiful and relaxing and the server, Worem, is exceptionally welcoming, warm, and most attentive. Breakfast was a hit and miss, one day perfect and the remaining days, sadly, off. Highly recommend visiting Alcatraz, Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory at 56 Ross Alley in China Town and of course, walking around China Town.
Stayed for 4 nights on a first trip to San Francisco. A pleasant hotel and an enjoyable stay. A clean, good sized twin room. Bathroom had no lock on it’s ill fitting sliding door and shower was a bit puny compared to most American hotels. However the room was very acceptable. As a British tourist I would have loved a kettle in the room, but when in Rome etc. Service was generally excellent from the staff with one exception, which was that housekeeping twice let herself into the room during late afternoon (even though the room had long since been cleaned) then turned around with no explanation when she saw we were there. We used the ‘do not disturb’ sign during the rest of the stay but what she was doing still remains a mystery. WiFi was excellent. We never did locate the stairs which was a shame given we had to use the lift to travel just one floor. Breakfast was good, but pricey for what it was. The hotel is very well situated, pretty much in the middle of the city.
Great night -- quiet hotel, really great front desk staff. We had a weekend getaway to San Francisco, and this location at Dragon's Gate and the Financial District was ideal. I'd be happy to stay again.
Orchard Garden Hotel was in the perfect location for our trip, right by the China Town entrance. Easy access, by cab, trolley or within walking distance to many of the sights we wanted to see. The room was pretty spacious, and clean.
Clean, nice amenities
Hotels in SF are so expensive and this is a great choice. Excellent location, you are in Chinatown or Union Square in minutes, a bit more to get to the Embaracedo. Clean room, friendly staff, environmentally minded.
Lovely hotel with very friendly staff and centrally located - I would recommend!
We found this hotel to be in the perfect location. It was walking distance to the Piers, AT & T, Union Square etc. We asked for a quiet room and got just that! We never saw or heard anyone on our floor! Our room was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is a fantastic french restaurant across the street and a Starbucks at the corner. We will definitely stay here again!
Nice and comfortable, good location and sustentable
Friendly staff, immaculately clean rooms and eco-friendly! Glad we choose this location for a weekend excursion to San Francisco. Close to everything. The rooftop garden has wonderful view of the area. Do yourself a favor and stay here. It will not only benefit you, but the environment as well.
I had a great time in San Francisco attending a conference, and this hotel was in the perfect location to explore the city. I love to walk everywhere, and from here I was able to walk up and down Market Street, over to the ferry building and up the piers, through Chinatown and all the way up the huge hill on Grant Ave. The Montgomery station was also a convenient couple blocks away. Staff were all extremely friendly and hospitable, and the chocolates on the pillows every evening were a pleasant treat.
Nice room. Clean except found hair on a supposedly clean bath robe. Front desk was friendly. Location is great if you mainly want to be around chinatown. Overall, a pretty great hotel.
Magnificent hotel, it was not what I expected at allll. So quiet, elegant, clean and charming. Easy check in and easier check out.
Helpful staff from the doorman who helped us with luggage to the front desk to the maid who provided turn down service. Nicely located in the financial district we were able to walk to the MOMA and the BART station. The room is big (could use an extra chair) with a comfortable bed. Very neat and tidy. The only complaint I have is the water pressure in the shower was not adequate but I would definitely stay again.
