We were surprised by the quality of the Italian food hidden away in the basement of this Silver Spring hotel. We used trip advisor to find a quick meal after a movie downtown and picked it because of its #1 position. The service was a bit slow but the food was outstanding.
This restaurant featuring northern Italian cuisine has been our family favorite ever since we started going there in 1988. It is a hidden gem, family owned and operated. Sergio often makes the pasta of the day himself. Once you have dined here you will be remembered and greeted like one of the family whenever you return. Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is relaxed and gracious. The specials of the day are always outstanding. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. Can’t say enough nice things about Sergio’s!
Great food and service
I work in the area and needed to find a cozy, quiet restaurant for a lunch date with a colleague. Sergio Ristorante Italiano exceeded my expectations with the food, service staff, location and decor. It was quiet and great for conversation. The food (Crab cakes) and white wine pairing were excellent The server was very nice and attentive. I will definitely return!
The service and food was quite good. Not the best I've ever had and not something to write home about, but above average definitely.
Ben and Mrs Too consider themselves extremely fortunate to have a place like Sergio’s so convenient and so very, very enjoyable, whether for a sumptuous lunch or a quiet and leisurely evening meal. You would think we would be there much more often than we are, but we have grown quite long in the tooth and simply do not get around as much as we once did. This coming spring will mark fifty years of dining with Sergio dating beck to his service as maitre’d to the incredibly zany Joseph d‘Assereto at the long gone Cantina d’Italia in Washington. You would think that at least once in the hundreds of meals we have eaten there and at Sergio’s we would have caught him on a bad day and been served a disappointing plate. Not so, not even once. This time, Mrs Too ordered the ravioli Toscanini with fresh asparagus in a dazzling cream sauce. Ben had the pollo fantasia, which is a chicken breast in its own version of sauce, along with homemade pasta. Ben seldom, either at home or out, has a chicken breast since he always finds it a bit dry for his taste. Not alla Sergio, it isn’t. Served with the classically simple green salad and the usual lightly crusted Italian bread, our meals were simply extraordinary. All of this, with tax and tip for $45.00 including Ben’s old fashion cocktail and valet parking. In busy downtown Silver Spring, Sergio offers respite from the street noise and hassle at great bargain rates. Don’t miss it. It’s a great place to meet with business associates as well.
We love dining here. The food is fantastic- we have yet to try a dish we didn't love. To top it all off, the service is warm and helpful. This has quickly become one of our favorite date night spots since learning about it!
Cozy, quiet, and good Italian. Excellent service.$$
We've been coming to Sergio's for many years. Same gracious owner, waiters and delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. The pasta is homemade and invariably my husband orders "his" linguine fruitti di mare. Good for couples, family, friends, business, solo.
Great service, great food!
I have been looking for a great restaurant to take clients when we come to DC - and I've found it! The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was classy/casual! = perfect after a hectic day of travel!
Very tasty, authentic Italian!
After a long day at the hospital my sister and I had a very nice meal. Met Sergio, he is a trip and loves a hug. Was impressed with the homemade pasta, and the sauces to die for. Was treated to a nice/free Lemonchello. Thank you Sergio!
Best resturaunt experience I've had since moving up to the area 2 yrs ago..Food was PERFECTO!!
I was an anxious to introduce a couple I've recently got to know who'd never been here to my girl friend. Many places I would consider are too loud or crowded for very deep conversations. This was perfect. The food was delicious and appropriate size proportions that left everyone satisfied
Quiet, good food, reasonable prices, excellent service. Located inside Doubletree. $5 valet parking
The food was good. The service too. Luigi, our waiter, was quirky but very nice. He even offered us a free dessert.
This is Silver Spring's best restaurant. The service and food are both excellent. Authentic Italian cuisine. Do try the Corvina - a mild and delicious fish, prepared to perfection. No, parking is not a problem.
This place is wonderful. We typically only come on special occasions like our anniversary. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is warm and quiet, perfect for a romantic evening. It's always a pleasure seeing Sergio and his crew, I wish we could visit more often.
Don't be fooled by its location (in the Doubletree by Hilton). This gem certainly caters to locals, as proven by the way diners were greeted with hugs and by name. It was obvious staff knew the regulars who dine here. Our dinners were perfectly prepared and tasty. While there is no kids menu, our server told our daughter that she could order whatever she wanted and he'd make sure the chef made it. She thought the spaghetti and sausage was the best she ever had. Don't leave without having a piece of the cheesecake.
