This restaurant was recommended by our Hotel bartender. He told us it was the best Italian food in the area and he was right. Luigi our waiter was great and all the food was amazing. We felt like part of the family. Grazie Sergio, Luigi per il fantastico pasto e il servizio. Torneremo presto.
This place was great! I know I'm a kid but the appetizers were great! So was the main course and the desert I reccomend it
Uitstekend eten voor een zeer goede prijs. Sergio en co zijn geweldig leuke en aangename gastheren. Zeker een aanrader als je in Silver Spring bent. Het restaurant is gelegen in het DoubleTree hotel.
Absolutely delicious. The pasta, tiramisu, and cappuccino remind me of Italy. Very friendly wait staff.
We were on vacation, staying across the street at the Homewood Suites so this was just a short walk across the street. No need to find parking. We were in the mood for Italian, and loved the owner and staff here. They had nice Italian music playing, seating was quick and so was the service. All of what we ordered was delicious (stuffed pork chops and pasta carbonara) except the sausage that stated “mild” in the description of pasta that my son ordered, was actually very hot and spicy. My husband ate it the next day so no problem with that. The bread was very good as well as the Tiramisu we had for dessert. A very charming Italian place!
A little Italian gem, friendly service, simple fresh home style Italian food, good prices. Many waiters are Italian, and they obviously enjoy what they do.
Love this place
This generally is a pleasant, straightforward Italian restaurant. Table service is excellent. The wines by the glass are all Italian and very good. We have enjoyed all the vegetarian appetizers and entrees. Some of the pasta is overcooked. Among the Italian restaurants in the area this is a top 25% option.
This restaurant was connected to the Double Tree we were staying at. I was surprised to read the positive reviews so we decided to try it after a long day. We were pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed the ambiance. It’s a cute little restaurant. The wait staff was gracious and Sergio himself came out to talk to us and the others. They split one of the pasta dishes for the kids. My chicken ravioli with vodka sauce was excellent. Highly recommend the limoncello tartufa. It was amazing, and our kids loved it.
Sergio's is on the bottom floor of a Double Tree Hotel, but is top notch, and upscale. There are lots of meat and pasta dishes, most are cream based, and always prepared perfectly. The cappuccino is better than any where else that I've had. The bread is excellent, as is the service. All the fish is fresh, as is the veal. Even the appetizers are a pleasant surprise. The service is excellent as is the ambience. The valet parking for the restaurant (be sure to say that you're not staying in the hotel) is inexpensive, in an area where it's difficult to find parking. All in all, you can't go wrong with this restaurant for lunch or dinner.
Our special occasion place for decades. Great food and ambiance mastered by Sergio himself.
This is one of the best restaurants in Silver Spring. We have been visiting this restaurant for over 20 years and never been disappointed.
This was probably our 5th or 6th time here and we've enjoyed it every time. I am continually impressed with how the simplicity of the menu and the ingredients results in a consistently excellent dinner. I also love how the portions aren't huge, but exquisitely prepared and served. With a salad, bread and side of pasta, I also think the value here is very good. Our favorites? I swear by the Corvina, a lightly breaded, pan fried sweet white fish. Completely bone free with just a hint of a sauce, it's delectable. My husband loves the lamb chops, although he probably wishes the portion was more "Americana" sized. The simple side dish of pasta in olive oil makes me wonder how come mine doesn't taste anything like that when I do it at home. Have been there with friends on several trips, and everyone has fully enjoyed their entrees, appetizers and desserts. Simplicity is also the theme of the decor. Starch white table cloths are what imply that you're in a better establishment. I find the darkness of the basement depressing, but it's very clean. Service very much depends on your waiter (no waitresses here!), and how much you engage. We've had really fun nights where we were sorry to say goodnight to our waiter, and other times where it's been more about efficiency. NEVER have had poor service. Go and enjoy!
While trying to find parking to get to the restaurant can be a challenge it is well worth the hassle. The service was good but the food was delicious and fresh. The lamb chops were succulent and cooked to my liking while my wife enjoyed the chicken piccata. Very affordable priced with that local venue attitude.
Great service and even better food.
Sergio's has two "private" rooms, one for 5-6 people and one for 8-10 people. This is great for a family or friends meeting over delicious food and wine. The service is so friendly and homey. It could not be any better using any criteria!
Best Italian food in Maryland ! Unique flavor . Order Veal Parmigiana
Very good food and very good service.
My wife and I finally ate dinner at Sergio -- while staying at the Homewood Suites across the street (having sworn off the Doubletree after one too many terrible experiences there). I admit to having a bit of a chip on my shoulder: Sergio offers neither delivery, nor takeout -- their choice, but expressed to those asking (like Doubletree guests) in a manner that's not just gruff, but which insures bad feelings on the part of those who have the gall to ask. They were on my "don't bother" list for the last six months. So, after placing a reservation for 8 pm one Sunday night, I was a bit apprehensive. Regulars -- and most diners appeared to be -- got hugs and kisses from staff. My wife and I were seated at a big table for four with no place settings in a half-full room -- by the same stone-faced senior (the Luigi whom reviewers say is so warm and friendly?) who brushed me off a while back by saying that they don't do take-out because they have no utensils. A young busboy soon gave us napkins and place settings, while apologizing. A friendly and wonderful waiter soon got us in a good mood, and my wife ordered the special Branzino filet, while I ordered the house-made Fettuccine ai Frutti di Mare ($17.00) in a sauce of shrimp, squid, mussels, white wine, garlic and tomato. The pasta was less al dente than I like, but otherwise this signature dish justified the restaurant's reputation. My wife's fish was terrific. Both entrees came with salad -- just so -so. Salads are not on the menu here, and the disinterest shows. A bottle of Sangiovese was inexpensive and very enjoyable. The most memorable part of the meal for me? The Italian ice cream: lemoncello and chocolate were both wonderful. Best Italian in Silver Spring, for sure, and, with a bill for $86, a great value.
The service and food was outstanding. The chicken Param was tender and not overly breaded. The accompanying spaghetti was perfectly cooked with a delicious tomato sauce. The fettuccine al ragu was also a perfect blend. The service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was not busy this evening so luckily no reservations were needed. Definitely would return when in the area again.
