Full disclosure - my wife isn't huge on seafood; however we were staying with friends and they brought us to this quaint, Peruvian restaurant and we are so pleased we dined here! The appetizers were absolutely amazing! We had the chori-papa, ceviche and the ahi tuna. The tuna was mouth watering and my wife loved the ceviche. For my main course, I had the pescado Entero blackened and it was delicious. Will, our server, was charming, witty and attentive. I was extremely impressed with the ambiance and the decor and I have been boasting about Costanera since we've returned to Florida.
It's one of those places you are reluctant to write a good review for because it is so good you risk it becoming hard to get into. But I have to do it anyway simple because the staff was super nice. The ceviche and Ahi tuna were to die for.
What a great find for delicious Peruvian food! Tucked away in Montclair this restaurant is a gem and a food heaven. The menu is superb with lots of options from fish to meat to poultry. We tried a number of items and everything was delicious. The fish was the freshest and flakiest melt in your mouth variety. Staff are very friendly. We recommend having reservations as the place can get busy on weekends. Worth it.
Pleasantly surprised by the delicious food! Exceeded my expectations in every area including cleanliness, politeness of staff, relaxing ambiance, and most importantly the food was beautiful and tasty. I passed by this gem a million times, and now I will definitely return.
I walked in a skeptic because of what I've heard. But I wanted to try for myself. 1. Service was great. Thoughtful and knowledgeable. He described good items nicely. 2. Appetizer - Causa de Pollo - It was so fresh and delicious. I prefer my causa a little bit spicier but it was so good. 3. Lomo saltado has to be great. but it was only good. A true Peruvian lomo does not come with frozen fries. It has to be fresh cut potatoes. So that was a downer for me. However, the quality and flavor of the beef was GREAT. I wish I had slightly more sauce but it was still really yummy. I had to take all the potatoes off. P.S. The white rice tastes just like the rice my Peruvian aunts make. it was a nice bonus. 4. They are a bit pricey compared to other Peruvian restaurants. and I mean almost double the price of your average lomo saltado. 5. Parking situation. That's a negative. I would probably go back. But I would prefer other Peruvian restaurants first.
Excellent food and service, affordable prices
Been restauranting around Montclair for the last four months, and all the food just seemed,... average... UNTIL me and my girlfriend walked into Costanera. Woaw! The food is all on point! Even the typical foods that I normally wouldn't order and wouldn't enjoy just because they aren't my taste or style, were still very, very good. Overall fantastic. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Montclair.
Food was great, love the ambiance and the servers.
A very small place but wasn't bad service. Didn't like my appetizer and they didn't charge me for it.
We decided on Costanera as a last minute decision and we were extremely impressed. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. Our baby loved the Tacu-Tacu (we mashed it up a bit for her) and my wife and I couldn't get enough of the Cangrejo appetizer. We can't wait to go back and try more of the menu... I have to remember to ask what is the delicious green sauce they serve!
I guess an update is overdue. I've becoming here since just about the opening. This place has become a mainstay in the neighborhood. While there have been several menu changes over the years (perfectly normal) they remain true to the quality of ingredients they use as well as having an upscale modern twist on Peruvian classics. Ceviches are always on point. Bistec a lo pobre, arroz con mariscos, etc. It goes on and on. The freshness and flavor combos always satisfy. I'm very much looking forward to trying Chef Juan's new place "Somos" in North Arlington. Costanera is a great BYOB in Montclair. If you haven't been there yet, I suggest you get over there and I'm sure you'll ENJOY!!!
Really really great for, every thing I have tried here is amazing. FYI It is byo beer, soda, drinks
Food was very good. Ceviche was excellent. Have the Tiradito. Causas are great. When it says "Crispy" for the Jelea it means deep batter fried - that was disappointing... I think the food is very good. It is BYOB. The waiter was OK - he had way too much ground to cover to actually give good service.
Every dish is fantastic....My sister is gluten free and Fernando our waiter prioritized her every need.
Awesome!!! Great customer service!!! Great tasting food!!!
This place is really awesome. I want to give it 4.5 but Google doesn't give half stars. Will definitely be back. Glad there's a good Peruvian place nearby.
I went with my cousins and their food was delicious. They are very generous with their portions and have great service!
My family and suggested this restaurant at the last minute, service was great, BYOB, food was very tasty
My family and I could not stop raving about how delicious their meats are!!! It was all very well seasoned, the portions are very generous. The space is small so reservations are a must!
Omg I loved it! The chaufa de camarones was amazing ! Loved the flan and cafe con leche ❤
