Excellent river tour for the money. Saw many different birds, large and small gators, and many turtles. Great facts about Dunellon and loved the songs!
What a perfect day: Pontoon time enjoying The Withlacoochee River, The Rainbow River, listening to Captain Jon sharing his love and knowledge of the area all under Florida's beautiful blue, blue sky. The pontoon 'driven' by Andy along the swamp fed Withlacoochee River and the spring fed Rainbow River was an informative (by Jon) adventure packed with history of Dunnellon and the rivers, thought-provoking tid-bits about our environment and the importance of preserving the precious waters plus Jon's singing four songs written by his Mom and 2 local friends. To top off an impressive trip...the photo ops were endless.
Fantastic trip filled with relaxation, beautiful sights, information and music. Well worth it!
If you miss this tour with Andy and Capt Jon, then you’ve missed what Florida truly has to offer. You’re taken on a historical tour, an ecological tour, and a musical tour (all in one). Jon’s knowledge of the wildlife, the ecology, and ‘fun facts’ about the local springs and natural world around us was simply fascinating! We came here from Tennessee and this tour was the highlight of our trip. Jon plays some original songs written by local friends and his mother as icing on the cake. I might add that we took the trip in mid-August on a 92 degree day, but the boat was covered with a roof for shade and the cool breeze coming off of the 72 degree spring-fed river was a welcome relief. We highly recommend this tour... don’t miss it!
A really nice take. Jon is very knowledgeable and entertaining.
I enjoyed the tour tremendously! Very relaxing and beautiful surrounding. Capt. Jon combined interesting info with humor and pointing out the abundant wildlife — his musical talent was great too!
This boat tour was outstanding! Captain Jon was very knowledgeable about the waters and wildlife. He has a great sense of humor too! He explains things so well, and makes the trip well worth your money $$. At the end of a nice tour he performs several songs on his guitar. He is a very talented singer and guitar player!! He took the time to tell the story behind each song he performed for us. Captain Jon deserves 6 stars. You should definitely take this boat tour!
Funny, relaxing, interesting boattrip
We had a group of 20 and we had a great time floating down the Withlacoochee and Rainbow River. John was extremely knowledgeable about the different rivers and the wildlife found on and around the area. Not only was he informative he is a very gifted musician/ entertainer. You will not be disappointed with this tour. Highly recommend. Buddy and Captian John are a Dynamic Duo
Second time I have been on this boat tour of the Withlacoochee and Rainbow rivers. Captain Jon entertains riders with songs and stories of the local area. You will get close to the wildlife thanks to Captain Andy at the helm. Very reasonably priced and enjoyable. Don't miss it if in this area!
Great time exploring the REAL Florida
Captain Jon is amazing. It is a must do event in Florida.
This tour was beautiful and such a highlight to our trip! We loved hearing about the history of the river from someone who lived on it for many years. He had such a heart for the area, for Florida, and for our country. It's not just for tourists, either...there were people on the trip with us who lived just down the street on their second visit! I highly recommend!
Phenomenal tour guide and a wonderful day all around. Scenic interest and fun.
We had the best time on this tour. The Captain is so knowledgeable and his singing was amazing.
This pontoon boat tour was great. The guide and singer, Mr. Jon Semmes, has a vast knowledge of the two rivers we boated on, the Withlacoochee and the Rainbow. We were on the boat for about 1 hour 30 min. The singing came in the last 30 min. when the driver brings the boat to a stop and Mr. Jon then regales us with his original songs about Florida and the creatures amongst the wilderness. Mr. Jon is very eco-centered and you will learn much about the ecology of the area along with some history. The Rainbow River is a spring fed river so it is pristine. Therefore, the rules are not to take "anything with you that cannot be eaten." In other words, no plastic or food wrappings. Keep the river in its pristine state. You will be able to see to the bottom of this absolutely clear water. The demarcation you pass through between the two rivers is amazing. We saw quite a few turtles, one gator and a few birds.
Jon and Andy are outstanding stewards of the Withlacootchee and the Rainbow rivers. Jon's guitar picking and his deep southern voice adds to the beauty and the scenery of the area. The knowledge and reverence that they have towards our beautiful state of Florida and the needs of the state are again outstanding! Folks, please do not miss this tour if you are in the area. Even if you are coming over for a day trip, call ahead and book your reservation!
Very informative!! Beautiful river tour with lots of wildlife.
This was by far the best river tour we have taken. Captain Jon is very knowledgeable about the rivers and the history of the area and presents it with a very confident and entertaining style. Also loved the presentation of some folksy Florida songs, while a little alligator laid in the weeds by the side of the boat, seemingly enjoying the serenade. Would definitely even take this tour again.
