It is a unique place with history & character
Great, moist brisket, really good jalapeno sausage. Worth the drive from Austin. 👍👍👍
Wow, what amazing brisket and spare ribs! I can't wait to try the turkey, they were out but next time I'll try again! This is one of my all time favorite bbqs! I even got some to take home! Delicious is an understatement! Great venue also, the old building has a great feel. Wonderful momentos and reviews line the walls. Great lemonade and tea! I didn't have room for dessert but maybe next time I'll try the banana pudding or the peach cobbler! Already planning to go back!
Excellent food, customer service and atmosphere. Love the old time feel! The staff and cook was so accommodating. GOOD BBQ
Great BBQ, smoked with Post Oak, not too smoky flavor, black pepper crust, we got a 1/2 lb. of lean brisket, was plenty for 2, or you can get plates, sandwiches... added dining room has big windows, windmill style ceiling fans, everything Texas Highways magazine said it would be....
BBQ is really good, just a little too much pepper. The desserts more than make up for the pepper, the desserts are so good.
Nice people food was awesome
Great brisket as usual, but they had run out of everything else. No line at all. Probably because they only had brisket left.
Friendly staff, great BBQ!
One of the gems of Texas culinary culture. As good now as it was 40 years ago when I first started going there. Brilliant brisket, rightious ribs and sumptuous sides. Must visit!
Amazing Texas BBQ. Family owned for generations. Can get busy, expect to wait in line.
Best Brisket I've ever had
Deliciousness & ambiance.
I have spent about a decade in Texas, and got one more chance to visit Louie Mueller a few days ago - it is my favorite BBQ in Texas, and somehow (for me) it symbolizes the best qualities of what this State and its people have. It's not flashy, but they are sincere and good stewards of this priceless family legacy with simply amazing beef ribs (and other meats) as well as unbeatable banana pudding. I brought my friend, and he absolutely loved it, too. It meant a lot to me, also, that Wayne Mueller took his time to come chat with us, personally.
I have always wanted to travel to the beef Mecca of bbq, so here we are in Texas on a 3 week road trip. We are crisscrossing the state to go to as many of the top bbq places as possible. We are using the Texas Monthly 2017 ratings as a guide so my apologies for those I do not get to, but time (and my waistline) is my enemy! I have to say the food and especially the beef rib was damn near a religious experience. My wife said it was simple the best piece of meat she has ever eaten. I have to agree! I had never had something like this before and I know I won’t find it on the West Coast where I live. The brisket and jalapeño sausage were both very good but nothing like the rib! The setting is great! You can imagine that it has not changed or ‘gentrified’ since the opening and that is part of the allure. The staff was great and very friendly and stayed to watch all of the people file in and load up on the food. Smiles everywhere! Coming to this landmark is well worth the effort. I am jealous of the locals that walk in here anytime!
As always, the BBQ is outstanding. Got beef ribs, brisket, pork ribs and sausage links. Everything was so delicious. Always detour here when in Texas
Delicious. Even for the Asian people like me, like it so much.
Spectacular. Cathedral of Smoke.
